Once upon a time, Lisa Godfrees graduated with a BA in Anthropology and a MS in Genetics. She lucked into a job at a crime lab where she toiled as a forensic scientist for over a decade. Tired of technical writing, she hung up her lab coat to pen Bible-themed speculative fiction while taking seminary classes.
These days, Lisa spends her time flummoxed over difficult questions like “Why don’t you write crime thrillers?” (Because once you’ve published UV irradiation and autoclave treatment for elimination of contaminating DNA from laboratory consumables what could be more thrilling?) and “Where do you work?” (Well, part-time for my church, but I’m a writer, and I consult on DNA cases, plus I’m the Production Manager at a Flash Fiction magazine, and…)
Lisa currently lives in Houston with one dog, two cats, a fish, two girls, and a husband. Fall is her favorite time of year because of football (Gig ‘em, Aggies!), Halloween, cooler weather, and her birthday. If she’s not reading, writing, or pondering difficult questions, you can find her doing something else. 😉
Author of several short works of fiction, Lisa is currently working on a full-length young adult fantasy. Connect with her on her blog at lisagodfrees.com.
